"Stop being such a worn-out human bounce-house and smile!"
―Betty Finn

Betty Finn is recurring character in Heathers. She is the overachieving, childhood friend of Veronica who secretly wants to be just as popular as "The Heathers".

She is primarily portrayed by Nikki SooHoo, with Ella Gross playing a younger Betty.

Biography[]

When she grew up, Betty lived next door to Heather Chandler and was initially good friends with her. (Pilot) Betty would often play croquet with Veronica Sawyer and Lucy McCord when they were younger. (She's Going to Cry)

One day whilst playing croquet, she and Veronica discovered Lucy's dead body in the woods. (Our Love is God)

Following Heather Chandler's apparent suicide Westerburg held a memorial service, during which Betty ended up delivering the eulogy and thus taking the reigns from Chandler as the most popular and powerful person at school. (Pilot)

Betty organised a memorial party for Heather Chandler at the Rock n' Rink. The party was successful in solidifying Betty's position as the new queen bee of Westerburg until Heather Chandler used the event to dramatically reveal that she was alive and coming back to Westerburg. (She's Going to Cry

Betty attended Heather McNamara's funeral, feeling rather sad about her death and a little guilty at denying her help after Heather Chandler's memorial party and for publicly being rude to her in the cafeteria at lunch. (Date Rapes and AIDS Jokes)

After Betty's grades begin to drop slightly, her parents intervened. They blamed Veronica for being a bad influence on Betty, prompting Betty to realise that everyone close to her gets hurt. Betty begins further research into this theory, and after finding evidence explains this to J.D., believing him to be her next target. Unknown to her, it is actually J.D. who was behind the recent tragedies in Sherwood, and he attempts to get rid of Betty for discovering a link between each event. However, Betty is highly skilled and fights back against J.D. before calling the police on him. (Our Love is God).

Betty and J.D. are interviewed by the police, however no one - not even her parents - believe her side of the story. Especially as Veronica provided an alibi for J.D. that contradicts Betty's story. Consequently, the incident is dismissed and Betty's parents decide to sent her to military school. (Reindeer Games)

Betty returned to Westerburg from military school for prom night. She planned on giving J.D. payback but was interrupted by Heather Chandler and the Westerburg student body, who embraced Betty's new look and attitude. (Are We Going to Prom or Hell?)
